Police Respond To Quinlan McDonalds Friday Night For Reports Of A Suspicious Package

Quinlan Police Department along with the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office respond to the Quinlan McDonalds Friday night in reference to a suspicious package located in the lobby.

Officers made scene late Friday night to investigate reports of a box with wires coming out of it, with a note attached to the top, the package was sitting in the Quinlan McDonalds lobby. When units arrived on scene the building was evacuated along with the area around the restaurant.

Cash Fire & Rescue was dispatched to the scene to provide traffic control while the deputies investigated this suspicious package. Highway 34 near the McDonalds was shutdown during this time.

Hunt County requested the Garland Bomb Squad to the scene. After making scene Garland was able to safely remove the package from the building and destroy it. A loud explosion could be heard throughout Quinlan, per local followers.

At this time we have not been able to confirm if the package was a prank, or if the box located was an actual explosive. We can confirm that the package was destroyed for safety precautions.

Per Sheriff Terry Jones they have a possible suspect they are currently investigating. The Hunt County Sheriff’s Office will be assisting the Quinlan Police Department in this investigation.

Hunt County Sheriff Jones would like to thank the Garland Bomb Squad for coming out to assist, along with Cash Fire Department for providing traffic control while this was being investigated.
