Hunt County EMS & Caddo Mills Fire-Rescue responded to I-30 Westbound late Thursday night for reports of a major motor vehicle accident. DPS released this statement:

At approximately 10:10 p.m. Highway Patrol Troopers were dispatched to a major crash at Interstate Highway 30 near Caddo Mills.

Preliminary investigation indicates that a Black Hyundai Accent was traveling westbound on IH-30 for a yet to be determined reason rear-ended an 18-wheeler traveling in the same direction. The impact caused the Hyundai to spin out into the eastbound lane of traffic where he was struck by another truck tractor.

The driver of the Hyundai was pronounced deceased on the scene, and the driver of the second 18-wheeler was transported to Hunt Regional with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the first 18-wheeler was not injured.

The interstate was shut down for several hours while units conducted an investigation.

The investigation is ongoing and no further information is available at this time.
