On January 24, 2020, at 7:49 pm the Greenville Police Department responded to Walgreens in reference to a person who had been stabbed. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the victim who had been stabbed multiple times. The victim was transported by ambulance to the airport, where he was flown to a hospital in the Dallas area. An investigation was initiated into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
On January 25, 2020, at 10:42 am the Greenville Police Department received a call from the Collin County Medical Examiner’s Office that the victim had died. The victim’s information is not being released at this time pending notification of his family.
The incident possibly occurred around the intersection of the South Service Road of Interstate 30 at Wesley Street. The victim was in a black Dodge truck and the suspect may have been in a passenger car. The only description of the suspect is that he is a light skinned white male. Coy Wayne Wells, 53, of Winnsboro was arrested by Hopkins County Sheriff’s deputies on County Road 2398 between Pickton and Winnsboro at 9:52 a.m. Friday.
Deputies were responding to a disturbance at the location. At 9:24 a.m. A woman reported her husband showed up at the residence swinging a knife and an axe handle, according to call logs…. Upon arrival, Deputies made contact with Mr Wells, who allegedly failed to comply with instructions to stop driving off through a pasture in a 2020 Ford F-150 while, fleeing back to the residence where the disturbance was reported…..
Deputies reportedly pursued Wells into the residence. Wells was taken into custody…
During an inventory of the vehicle before it was impounded, deputies reportedly located a firearm in the bed of the truck. Records check revealed that Mr, Wells was A convicted felon, Wells was arrested for possession of 1-4 grams of a Penalty Group 1 controlled substance in 2017, Upon further investigation, deputies reportedly determined Wells had committed aggravated assault with a deadly weapon…
Upon arrival at the jail, deputies reportedly discovered Wells was in possession of 87.58 grams of a crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine. Arrest reports did not specify whether the prohibited substance was found on his person or in his truck….
Coy Wayne Wells is also accused of jail escape in Hopkins County. He was in custody in less than a minute, after trying to escape according to one of the Hopkins County Sheriffs…
Wells walked out the book-in exit with jail trusties… attempting to escape by walking out of the sally port , Wells was able to make it Northbound on the sidewalk, where deputies were able to place him back into custody.
Darious Dozier has been identified as last night’s victim of the fatality motorcycle accident. Dozier served Honorably with the 2nd Brigade Combat Team of the 101st Airborne Division as a forward observer (13F) he was an outstanding soldier, a loving father, an outdoorsman, expert rider, and an activist for fellow veterans in his community. Funeral services are to be determined.The family asks for prayers and also for riders and drivers alike to be aware and cautious.
