On May 24 th , 2006 Cora McAbee and Brandon Howell were murdered while they slept inside her residence located in the 3500 block of Private Road 2174. It has been confirmed that Cora and Brandon were in a relationship and had been for several months leading up to the night of their murders. Over the past 13 years the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office has been investigating this case and following up on leads as they have come in but nothing of evidentiary value was located and no one has come forward with information pertinent to the case. On May 23, 2019 tactical officers with the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office and Greenville Police Department executed a narcotics search warrant on a room at the Economy Inn located at 5103 Interstate 30, Greenville Texas.
The narcotics search warrant was the culmination of a joint investigation between the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office and Greenville Police Department which resulted in the seizure of 84 grams of methamphetamine, U.S. currency and a firearm. Armando Osornio Quiroz, 28 years of age from Greenville Texas was arrested and charged with Delivery of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon. Mr. Quiroz was arraigned on the charges and was issued a total bond of $120,000.00
Sheriff Meeks stated: “I want to commend the investigators on their thorough and diligent work on this investigation. I would like to remind everyone if you have information regarding narcotic activity you can report it to Hunt County Crime Stoppers anonymously at 903-457-2929”.
Another search took place today in Quinlan for the Hunt County Missing Carey Mae Parker.
Around 8 A.M Thursday morning, Hunt County Sheriffs Department Along with Community United Effort (CUE) & Mark 9 K9 Unit, started a search with search dogs in the 900 block of State Highway 276. Sheriff’s Sgt. Jeff Haines stated, this was in reference to the Carey Mae Parker missing persons case.
Haines stated they searched several locations today, with written consent from all land owners. The search was targeting any evidence involving the Carey Parker case. Parker has not been seen or heard from since March 1991, she was 23 at the time. It is unknown at this time if any evidence was located during this search.
Sgt. Haines stated this is an active investigation and all updates will come at a later time.
